Philip Gray
Philip Gray is an artist and explorer, with a passion for both. Rather than a calm day spent painting indoors, he immerses himself in the natural world that inspires his art. His renowned 'extreme art' has taken him on daring expeditions to various locations such as Everest Base Camp, shark-infested waters 60 feet below the surface, Borneo's rainforest, and the caves and volcanoes of Iceland. This innovative approach to artwork has earned him a one-of-a-kind reputation in the international art scene.
Philip expresses a deep admiration for the sea, derived from his many encounters with its exhilarating waves both on and beneath the surface. Having dedicated 17 years to serving as an Irish navy diver, he continues to feel a profound connection with the ocean. Whenever he leans over the edge of a ship, bound for new adventures and far-off horizons, Philip senses that the vast expanse of water is communicating with him through countless words and visions.
Upon turning 16, Philip bid farewell to his education and embarked on a journey with the Irish Navy. As he settled into his role as a naval diver, he picked up painting while at sea and quickly became quite productive. His position afforded him the distinct privilege of capturing Ireland's natural beauty from a perspective only accessible from the vast Atlantic Ocean.
After serving 17 years in the Navy, Philip bravely decided to leave his naval career and pursue his passion for art, with the support of his wife and family. This bold move paid off, as he is now recognized as one of Ireland's most renowned living artists. His collection of impactful Original Paintings, Pastels, and Collectable Editions have earned him numerous accolades, press coverage, and notable patrons including Bill Clinton, George W Bush, and Dolly Parton.
