Collection: Richard Blunt

Since he was a teenager, Richard has always aspired to be creative. He was intrigued by art and decided to study Fine Art with the intention of making his passion a career. The advisor told him, "you'll never make any money as an artist," so he chose Worcester College of Art to study three-dimensional design.

Upon leaving college, frustrated and uncertain of his career path, Richard turned his mind to music. After playing in a variety of bands for ten years, he relocated to Cardiff, where he earned a degree in Popular Music and continues to reside today. Although Richard has always loved art, it wasn't until his late twenties when he was inspired to try oil painting and became addicted to it.

In 2012, Richard Blunt earned early acclaim from renowned galleries, resulting in Wishbone Publishing taking him on. His authentic artworks and embellished prints have found their way into UK galleries and gained admirers from all corners of the globe. As an oil painter, Richard operates with a traditional style but is open to stimulating influences from film, music and life itself. His focus is on creating paintings that communicate stories through fashion and props evocative of a bygone era - of love, life and alluring enigmas. Since 2018, Richard has been permanently based in Cardiff where he works fervently in his very own studio.
