Kerry Darlington
After completing her university education, she spent time working in South America before returning to the United Kingdom, where she took on a role as a designer and illustrator for a prestigious firm that specialized in sculptured clay murals for private residences in the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
Kerry now operates independently from her home studio in North Wales, drawing upon these diverse experiences and her adaptability to create artworks across a wide range of subjects. She dedicated many years to honing her drawing skills with pen and ink before branching out into watercolours and subsequently exploring various mediums, including acrylics and oils.
Her involvement with clay murals sparked an interest in painting on heavy textures, leading her to experiment extensively to achieve original effects. Kerry's acrylic paintings are meticulously crafted on board or canvas, beginning with textures and gesso. She then layers multiple transparent colours to establish depth. Her abstract works were initially inspired by satellite imagery of Earth, resulting in the 'Volcanic' Collection during 2005/2006.
This collection has since evolved to encompass contemporary landscapes and figure studies, all reflecting her distinctive style. Her artwork has gained significant recognition among collectors, and in 2007, she was a finalist for the 'Best Up-and-Coming Published Artist' award at the Fine Art Trade Guild Awards, as determined by UK galleries. Since that time, she has emerged as one of the top-selling artists in the United Kingdom, with her commercial pieces displayed in numerous galleries.
