Despite her Grammar School's emphasis on academic subjects, Amy pursued her passion for Art and Graphic design up to A-level. On results day, she decided to forego a spot at University studying English Literature in favour of enrolling in the Art foundation program at Lincoln Art College. Despite the 2-hour commute by bus each day, Amy was determined to make the most of this opportunity.
After some experimentation, she discovered her true passion for textiles and pursued it by studying Fashion Design at The University of Lincoln, graduating in 2011. She continued to explore this interest during a residency in Sweden, where she designed intricate costumes for a Carnival dance troupe. It is evident that her fashion background influences her paintings as she incorporates similar processes into both her textile designs and her latest collection of artwork. Through creating characters and giving animals distinct personalities, the pieces truly come alive.
